February 3 2009 - Beaulieu Sponsors Consumer Media Luncheon At Surfaces

LAS VEGAS, Feb. 3, 2009 – One of the largest exhibitors at Surfaces hosted some of the biggest titles in women's and shelter magazines at an invitation-only luncheon just off the show floor in the Venetian hotel. About 50 guests attended, including writers and editors from Meredith Publishing (Better Homes and Gardens and their Special Interest Publications group), Hearst Media (Good Housekeeping, Veranda and others), Chris Davis, president of the World Floor Covering Association and Werner Braun, president of the Carpet and Rug Institute, along with executives from Beaulieu of America and Hanley Wood.

The luncheon was part of a full calendar of activities for the invited editorial guests over two days of the show and also included guided tours, a focus group lunch, and VIP reception. Beaulieu worked along side Surfaces management in contacting and distributing invitations throughout the summer and fall. "We felt very strongly about the importance of the floor covering industry's exposure to these magazines." observed Patricia Flavin, Senior VP of Marketing for Beaulieu "So we wanted to help in any way we could."

The consumer press initiative was a first for the largest floor covering show in the nation and will likely not be the last. "It was an eye-opening experience for many of them. They had no real idea about the variety and style of flooring," said Flavin. "They'll be back next year."

Beaulieu of America is the third largest carpet manufacturer in the world, employing over 6,000 people in 30 facilities and produces Bliss by BeaulieuTM The Nicest Carpet In The World.TM
